Last week we had a 'media day' in the media day we done a short video of me & a class mate infront of the white house, the white house then blows up and we jump out the way. We made this look real using final cut.<br />
On Monday we are going to go back to the graveyard and shoot some more footage.Curtis Meredithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15433517823848138192noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1575995832264393202.post-21687291835396528542010-11-19T03:32:00.000-08:002010-11-19T03:32:42.056-08:00Blue screen technology.<iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/XXJhVBhzBfY?fs=1" frameborder="0" height="344" width="425"></iframe>Curtis Meredithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15433517823848138192noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1575995832264393202.post-56410549698157522052010-11-01T04:47:00.000-07:002010-11-01T04:47:10.775-07:00Weekly diary report 1/11/2010In media this week, we have learnt how to record and are now learning to edit the clips to put them together, i have learnt that recording a film clip is not as easy as it seems and there are lots of different clips that then need to be built together. we are currently editing and putting our clips together to complete the preliminary taskCurtis Meredithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15433517823848138192noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1575995832264393202.post-31910987906490634992010-10-20T02:24:00.000-07:002010-10-20T02:49:56.974-07:00WEEKLY REPORT 20/10/2010This week in media we have learnt things such as how to use the camera's and became more familiar with camera shots and angles. today we went down to the hall with the camera's set them up on the tripod and practiced different camera shots. we have all so learnt about the perliminary task we are going to do. this consists of a door opening, crossing a room, sitting down on a chair opposite a character and exchanging lines of dialougue.<br />

<ul><li>Changing</li>
<li>Adding special effects</li>
<li>slow down + speed up</li>
<li>films made up of 100's of cuts</li>
</ul>Shouldn't be able to notice when clips change. - contunuity editing<br />
<br />
All shots follow each other in the following order :<br />
<ul><li>Establish</li>
<li>Set scene</li>
<li>Over shoulder</li>
<li>Close up</li>
</ul>Shot transitions that omit parts of and event causing an ellipses in plot and story duration<br />
Jump out/dissolve - 2 images/clips overlap<br />
Overlapping editing is a common charecteristics of the frenzied king kong addition films in the 80's + 90's<br />
Temporal editing - Plays with time<br />
Spatial editing - 180 degree rule.Curtis Meredithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15433517823848138192noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1575995832264393202.post-32879853015574777882010-10-11T04:21:00.001-07:002010-10-11T04:21:50.932-07:00Film cover<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhC6tVij08z1-RvW-9tN5BmEaM0nvtYGPL9DEni-wO7b5-RH6SsZ0UmSo6dYsKJ58w9N2KKnHrVqmn6bmhNjIxeFOkWgkzp6qy864jLueRVZ4P1vmuwykN9WTb53tJkFKTQaSFuP9jIJ-Iu/s1600/feast_of_flesh.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ex="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhC6tVij08z1-RvW-9tN5BmEaM0nvtYGPL9DEni-wO7b5-RH6SsZ0UmSo6dYsKJ58w9N2KKnHrVqmn6bmhNjIxeFOkWgkzp6qy864jLueRVZ4P1vmuwykN9WTb53tJkFKTQaSFuP9jIJ-Iu/s1600/feast_of_flesh.jpg" /></a></div>Curtis Meredithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15433517823848138192noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1575995832264393202.post-59741733825020552142010-10-11T03:56:00.000-07:002010-10-13T06:25:36.431-07:00<div class="date-outer" closure_uid_es8h04="7"><div class="date-posts"><div class="post-outer"><div class="post hentry"><h3 class="post-title entry-title"><a href="http://mediaprod-as.blogspot.com/2010/10/final-decisions_11.html">Final Decisions</a> </h3><div class="post-header"><div class="post-header-line-1"></div></div><div class="post-body entry-content"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Soundtrack.</span></span></span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: xx-small;"><span style="font-size: xx-small;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">We were thinking of having a mix of both fast-paced music and standard atmospheric music. For instance, fast-paced Drum and Bass would make a chase scene seem faster, and it would make the scene seem tense and it get your heart beating fast.</span></span></span></span><br />

<span style="font-size: xx-small;"><span style="font-size: xx-small;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">For sound effects we would need things like , blood splatters, screams, sliceing sounds, footsteps and heavey footsteps. As we are doing a horror, this would seem rather appropriate. these are all sound you expect from a horror film.</span></span></span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-size: large;"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">Costumes.</span></strong></span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: xx-small;"><span style="font-size: xx-small;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">For costumes, the character being chased would need normal clothing, as he is just a normal person. The killer would possibly need a mask and a hood. This makes the killer seem like he is isolated, like you know nothing about him, and not seeing his face makes it more of a mystery. You feel like you don't know the killer, so you can't feel sorry for him because of his background. This forces you to empathis with the victim.</span></span></span></span><br />

<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-size: large;"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">Props.</span></strong></span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: xx-small;"><span style="font-size: xx-small;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">We would need a mask and an object to be used as a weapon. This is fairly simple as we only need two minutes of footage, so props aren't a major issue. But we were looking at using a weapon that hasn't been seem in a horror movie. This could give a feeling of authenticity.</span></span></span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-size: large;"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">Lighting.</span></strong></span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-size: xx-small;">For lighting, we will proably use night vision and spotlights, this is because we are going to be filming in the dark.</span></span></span> </div></div></div></div></div>Curtis Meredithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15433517823848138192noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1575995832264393202.post-33306256693498657942010-10-06T02:51:00.001-07:002010-10-06T02:51:51.311-07:00Comedy mood board<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7VkR4xpslkCDqe_lGq9Ptr2zNngq-h5mIyDhMcT1AmPIwdU_hcCQp8jz3YUq5cIVchb8cGNO90pZHbiKMGjHzU9_VrKYVzp6XM94LgJ43fKNAJJK8gZ-K1TxFPrzAbWRbb6Zex4x7Fudv/s1600/comedy+mood+board.bmp" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ex="true" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7VkR4xpslkCDqe_lGq9Ptr2zNngq-h5mIyDhMcT1AmPIwdU_hcCQp8jz3YUq5cIVchb8cGNO90pZHbiKMGjHzU9_VrKYVzp6XM94LgJ43fKNAJJK8gZ-K1TxFPrzAbWRbb6Zex4x7Fudv/s320/comedy+mood+board.bmp" width="320" /></a></div>Curtis Meredithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15433517823848138192noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1575995832264393202.post-2250995786348066412010-10-06T02:42:00.001-07:002010-10-06T02:43:31.994-07:00Questionnaire<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEik8x7PM-YO6GsIeIpprIkSIj2eZIpBqRtkEy00aGEV4zXX8QLKOYLv3ZcWEBJwSnBc58yrNKKyMbsO2K57PhO4gHol6F5hjlVq75O-eIRZrWHVT13hw1apeirlEa7gXlBcC0zA-C37QmPw/s1600/questionaire_-_ta.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ex="true" height="295" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEik8x7PM-YO6GsIeIpprIkSIj2eZIpBqRtkEy00aGEV4zXX8QLKOYLv3ZcWEBJwSnBc58yrNKKyMbsO2K57PhO4gHol6F5hjlVq75O-eIRZrWHVT13hw1apeirlEa7gXlBcC0zA-C37QmPw/s400/questionaire_-_ta.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>Curtis Meredithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15433517823848138192noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1575995832264393202.post-2515332295964730372010-10-06T02:38:00.000-07:002010-10-06T02:38:07.154-07:00Valdimir & Levi straussVALDIMIR PROPS<br />

Narration is important to explain the story and explain whats going on in the film/movie, without narration, in some films the story line would be hard to understand, narration breaks up the story and tells you whats going on.<br />
The three narrative theorios are :-<br />
<ul><li>Bianary opposition</li>
<li>Eqilibrium theory</li>
<li>Characters type</li>
</ul>I think eqilibrium would be the most effective sort of narration because it explains whats going to happen in the movie and often leaves off with a cliff hanger, this makes us want to watch the film even more.<br />
A bibliography also comes into narration, it explains the auhor of a book, the year the book was written etc... bibliographys can be useful for things like documentarys, a filmography is pretty similar. It does the same thing except its with a film, the director of the film the year it was made etc...Curtis Meredithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15433517823848138192noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1575995832264393202.post-17934970931784597112010-10-06T01:41:00.000-07:002010-10-06T01:41:00.865-07:00Horror Mood Board<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkVUL2EunPOPlJA3dm2uhERBVQH3P-JNtXMJ0FpS3Lqo730N6KzGf0kQ2CTdBLAQCCySePreGYbRjqmK3rgaj4qFgziRlknxSgsy1QNrdwIyHmIJXMxYCquxBhQKhmLH9fgg0ARJA5ogbz/s1600/mood+board.bmp" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ex="true" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkVUL2EunPOPlJA3dm2uhERBVQH3P-JNtXMJ0FpS3Lqo730N6KzGf0kQ2CTdBLAQCCySePreGYbRjqmK3rgaj4qFgziRlknxSgsy1QNrdwIyHmIJXMxYCquxBhQKhmLH9fgg0ARJA5ogbz/s320/mood+board.bmp" width="320" /></a></div><div align="center">This is a mood board, we created this to show what genre we are using.</div>Curtis Meredithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15433517823848138192noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1575995832264393202.post-56648549543818687952010-09-30T05:14:00.000-07:002010-09-30T05:14:06.194-07:00Genre Research 2<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dx5QxAwbyw0mahM9JafV41CzmHiebJVCezq46xMk8t8vQHDE3rg9t3GEdxp9aaiU4GrrIJ21F7JD00G-fUXsQ' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>Curtis Meredithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15433517823848138192noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1575995832264393202.post-61534923810918159642010-09-30T05:12:00.000-07:002010-09-30T05:12:30.147-07:00Genre Research 1<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dwhR3WAFWnLaeTfY8IAtX1uPcKha3zDbku3driqy2y7GWRii1AwI1RQhwoaOJSNunthTJ2waIGJilGYkcSO8g' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>Curtis Meredithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15433517823848138192noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1575995832264393202.post-50889946359300613462010-09-30T01:37:00.000-07:002010-09-30T01:37:39.578-07:00Audience researchThe audience is most probably the most valubale thing to a film/movie producer. If it wasnt for the audience then there would be know money made in the business. <br />
Mass media information is challenged to the 'masses' through opinion leadership. The people with access to media, have a more literate understanding of a media content explain and diffuse the content to others.<br />
This theory suggests the media is capable of 'mass manipulation'. This is based on the assumption beleives what it see's.<br />
The audience has a set of needs that needs too be met by the film director.<br />
Theory argues that there is a 'moral panic' - A threat is identified and panic is created through out.Curtis Meredithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15433517823848138192noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1575995832264393202.post-29455492530341790272010-09-29T02:20:00.000-07:002010-09-29T02:20:57.513-07:00WEEKLY DIARY REPORT 29/09/2010This week in media studies Mr Morris explained how to create a opening sequence analysis. By knowing how to do this i can anylise a film and explain why there is a certain feature in the opening such as grey skies - war/horror movie. I have also researched genre. This just basically tells you wether the movie your watching is going to be scary/funny/romantic etc...Curtis Meredithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15433517823848138192noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1575995832264393202.post-77577782429743962562010-09-27T05:20:00.000-07:002010-09-27T05:20:19.682-07:00Saving Private Ryan - Opening Scene - D-Day Omaha Beach (VERY HIGH QUALITY)<object style="background-image:url(http://i4.ytimg.com/vi/gPA6kRuhKks/hqdefault.jpg)" width="480" height="295"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/gPA6kRuhKks?fs=1&hl=en_GB"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/gPA6kRuhKks?fs=1&hl=en_GB" width="480" height="295" allowscriptaccess="never" allowfullscreen="true" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed></object><div>SAVING PRIVATE RYAN</div><div>WAR</div><div>One convention of a war film would be grey skies and dull atmosphere (ussualy on a island)</div><div>in this film before the battle starts all the men look nervous, this is to emphasise the feeling in this sort of film. In order to be recognized as genre these interactions and environments must be recurring.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">One advantage of genre is that then the audience know what kind of film there going to watch, e.g. - horror is scary, comedy is funny.</div><div style="text-align: center;">One disadvantage of genre is that genre keeps changing and now theres things like ''romcom'', - this is a comedy romance film but not everyone will know what this means. (hybrid).</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

I have also learnt things such as camera angles, i now know the names of camera angles such as low angle, childrens waist level, birds eye view, high shot & dutch tilt.<br />
So far i am enjoying media and looking forward to starting my horror film opening.Curtis Meredithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15433517823848138192noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1575995832264393202.post-44294765023505097242010-09-22T02:47:00.000-07:002010-09-22T02:47:18.631-07:00The Hangover - opening sequence.<p><object style="BACKGROUND-IMAGE: url(http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/hKtHA8EFgIo/hqdefault.jpg)" height="295" width="480"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hKtHA8EFgIo?fs=1&hl=en_GB"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hKtHA8EFgIo?fs=1&hl=en_GB" width="480" height="295" allowscriptaccess="never" allowfullscreen="true" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed></object></p><p>The convention of a horror film is idiotic characters getting up to no good, basically the definition of the hangover. Theres three (four) main characters, all grown men that like to have fun and get themselve in a lot of trouble while they do so. The sound track at the start of the film also gives a way that its a comedt film. This sequence above symbolises a normal every day persons life, but then as the film goes on things start to change. My excpectations of the film where funny and stupid, i got excactly what i wanted and i rate this film 10/10 (underrated!)</p>Curtis Meredithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15433517823848138192noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1575995832264393202.post-51568918615454565372010-09-22T02:26:00.000-07:002010-09-22T02:26:44.070-07:00The Ring Two - Opening Sequence<p><object style="BACKGROUND-IMAGE: url(http://i3.ytimg.com/vi/2sEeH84GCcc/hqdefault.jpg)" height="295" width="480"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/2sEeH84GCcc?fs=1&hl=en_GB"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/2sEeH84GCcc?fs=1&hl=en_GB" width="480" height="295" allowscriptaccess="never" allowfullscreen="true" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed></object></p><p><br />THE RING 2<br /><br />Whenever the ring appears on screen, the lights always dim where ever she shows up. This is a convention of a horror film. The ring's voice sounds as if she's possesed, This is another convention of a horror film.<br />One of the main characters in the film is a little boy. The character of the little boy symbolises he is helpless of himself and cant do nothing and dosen't understand what's happening, the following link will show the boy <a href="http://www.celluloid-dreams.de/content/images/kritiken-filmbilder/the-ring-2/the-ring-2-2.jpg">http://www.celluloid-dreams.de/content/images/kritiken-filmbilder/the-ring-2/the-ring-2-2.jpg</a>. A key sinifier in the film is towards the end where the vicor comes and does the excorsism, he brings a cross this signifify's christianity. My expectations of the movie is scary, The movie looks quite thrilling and spine chilling. The audience of this movie is 18+ and anyone who likes a horror film. My personal thought of this film is quite thrilling, even though i think it could be a bit scarier.</p>Curtis Meredithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15433517823848138192noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1575995832264393202.post-14945027062167363932010-09-15T07:00:00.000-07:002010-09-15T07:00:02.458-07:00Symbolic code analysis<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpAejQZ7ZoWpAu3pnuWvzp8o_IkQ6yzSD2CpPTvvB_RdsvMd7Xc1bC1GA18vUBES2nrEBJCTKNxAKVtPsfDHXDz5QqA0h4E9N_N_J7fDXxpK0mMoGw6YC93OBTaa8F6MOixMUfb7ETYLiJ/s1600/EXOER_EXER066A.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" qx="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpAejQZ7ZoWpAu3pnuWvzp8o_IkQ6yzSD2CpPTvvB_RdsvMd7Xc1bC1GA18vUBES2nrEBJCTKNxAKVtPsfDHXDz5QqA0h4E9N_N_J7fDXxpK0mMoGw6YC93OBTaa8F6MOixMUfb7ETYLiJ/s320/EXOER_EXER066A.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><strong>THE EXORSISM</strong></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><strong><em>LONG SHOT</em></strong></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">LOW ANGLE</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This has got a spooky setting in which the lighting is dim (early morning) and very foggy, this adds a scarier effect because you cant see very far and you dont know whats there.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The robe costume and messy hair adds a scary effect to make the person/thing look scarier.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The position of this character is to the left, this shows more of the spooky setting, also her arms are pointing forward almost as if she's looking for someone.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">There is a tree in the picture which is there to break up the empty bacground, the tree has no leaves, this symbolises that its cold and disturbing.</div>Curtis Meredithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15433517823848138192noreply@blogger.com0
